The Harvest End Game Text Adventure

The Harvest

Days after having defeated the human you decide to take a step away from all the hard work for a breath of fresh air. [[Go to the Vegetable Garden]] [[Go to the Green House]]

The garden is empty, all the vegetables have either gone to the Green House or are in the Shed [[Sit for a while and enjoy the peace and quiet]] [[See what's happening in the Green House ->Go to the Green House]] [[Walk back to the Shed]]

You make your way to the greenhouse and watch as a group of carrots plant the seeds of future vegetables. It fills you with a feeling of accomplishment. [[Offer to help plant seeds]] [[Wave and leave the Green House]]

"Hey, Trix! How's it going? If you want to help you can shove these seeds in the ground over the-" The carrot is interupted by a distressed vegetable running through the Green House door. "Beatrix you have to get back to the shed! Something isn't right!" [["Woah woah woah, calm down. What's happened?" -> Vegetable Explains]] [["Can't it wait? I'm sort of in the middle of something." -> Vegetable Explains]] [[Sprint past the vegetable ->Sprint]]

The carrots see you and wave back with a smile On the Way out you run into a distressed vegetable [["Hey bud, whats going on?" -> Vegetable Explains]] [["Get a grip! Whats wrong?" -> Vegetable Explains]]

You run past the vegetable toward the shed at full speed You run through the door of the shed and see Seymour washing sickly looking vegetables [["What happened?!" -> Seymour Talks]] [[Help the nearest suffering vegetable -> Seymour Talks]]

The vegetable is gasping for air "Ev- (text-rotate-z:9)[Huff] Everyone's getting sick! I don't know whats happening (text-rotate-z:9)[COU](text-rotate-z:-5)[GH]" [["I'll go as fast as I can" ->Sprint]] [["DAMN IT!" ->Sprint]]

You start to move closer Seymour shouts at you "Don't get any closer! (text-rotate-z:7)[CO](text-rotate-z:-10)[uGH] You'll get sick too" You've never heard Seymour raise their voice, and it shakes you to your core [["What are you talking about? What's happening" ->Seymour Explains]] [[Assess the situation]]

Your breath of fresh air is interupted by desperate cries [["Uh Oh" ->Call out to the vegetable]]

On your way back you spot a vegetable running toward the Green House; it looks like they're searching for someone [[Call out to the vegetable]] [[Pick up your speed and run ->Sprint]]

What was a beautiful and quiet day has been interupted by the distressed cries of a vegetable [["Hey turn it down a notch, what's going on?" -> Vegetable Explains]] [["Y'know, I understand shouting out in celebration of your freedom, but this is a bit much" -> Vegetable Explains]] [["Not good..." Sprint past the vegetable toward the shed ->Sprint]]

You look around and in the darkest corner of the shed you notice a hazy mist similar to the mist in the Cedar Forest [["The mushrooms..." ->Seymour Explains]] [["What's that?" ->Seymour Explains]]

Seymour falls to the floor "Mould... I guess those fungi aren't so much fun after all *Wheeze* Ironic ain't it? (text-rotate-z:1)[COU](text-rotate-z:2)[GH] (text-rotate-z:9)[C](text-rotate-z:-5)[OUGH]" [["A little bit on the nose don't you think? Even for you." Try help Seymour up]] [[Why are you making jokes at a time like this?!]]

"STAY BACK!" You jump back [["But I can't just leave you to die" ->"I won't let any of you die"]] [["Okay, Okay" ->Vegetables Outside]]

"Thought I should lighten to mood a bit, guess that didn't work" [["Damn those mushrooms, I'll KILL them!" ->Mushroom fight talk]] [["Why attack us now? I'll END THEM" ->Mushroom fight talk]]

"Thats a fight we can't win Trix..." [["But-" ->Vegetables Outside]]

"I made all of the healthy vegetables leave the shed you need to lead them somwhere safe (text-rotate-z:4)[COU](text-rotate-z:2)[GH] (text-rotate-z:1)[C](text-rotate-z:-7)[OUGH]" [["I can't just leave you all to die"->Self Sacrifice Speach]] [["What about you?" ->Self Sacrifice Speach]]

"You're going to have to leave us here, we're not long for this world anymore. Some of the older folk have already..." (text-colour:blue)[Tears] begin to well up in Seymours eyes [["I'm pretty sure onions aren't the ones who are supposed to cry"]] [["I won't let any of you die"]]

"It's too late for us. You need to take the rest far away. I saw something about a botanical garden in the botanist's lab, where they keep the plants safe and don't (text-colour:red)[Harvest] (text-rotate-z:1)[COU](text-rotate-z:2)[GH] You need to keep the rest happy, after all life is hard to live without a little joy" "Now go, everyone is waitin' for you." [[Hesitate before leaving ->Planning]] [[Rush out the door ->Planning]] [["Goodbye my friend"]]

"Heh, I guess not. It's good to see that even you can make jokes when the end is near" [["This isn't the end for any of you" ->"I won't let any of you die"]]

You leave the shed with a pit in your stomach. It seems like all your hard work is going to waste, but you can't give up. What is next Beetroot Knight [["Seymour mentioned the Botanist's Laboratory, there has to be something there" ->MentionBotanist]] [[Announce to the healthy vegetables that they are moving to the Botanical Garden ->To Botanical Garden]]

"Goodbye Beatrix, I hope we can be friends again in our next lives" [[Quietly leave ->Planning]] [[Gently smile at Seymour ->Planning]] [[Stay for a moment before leaving ->Planning]]

You think about what Seymour said and realize that the Botanist's Laboratory has all sorts of chemicals and materials, but surely security is higher since the last time you were there. [[Give up on the idea of curing the sick vegetables ->To Botanical Garden]] [[Go to the Botanist's Laboratory]]

You tell all of the vegetables that they are all moving to a safe area away from any possible danger. [[Tell the truth about the vegetables in the shed]] [[Lie about the vegetables in the shed]]

You go alone to the Botanist's Laboratory to find a cure to the mould sickness facing the vegetables.

With a heavy heart you tell the vegetables what has happened in the shed. Some refuse to join the trip to the botanical garden and would rather die with their loved ones than let them suffer alone. You try convince them otherwise but fail [[The show must go on ->To the Botanical Garden]]

You tell the vegetables that the few that remain in the shed will make their way to the botanical garden later on after sorting out some remaining errands. [[To the Botanical Garden]]

You make your way with the healthy vegetables to the Botanical Garden so that you can start a new life safe and free, but it won't be easy.

Name: Beatrix Rood

Height/Build: Stocky build, robust, and large compared to the other vegetables. Race: Beetroot

Hair/Hairstyle: Deep green leafy ponytail Eye Colour: Black and beady

Appearance:

Head always held high with a glisten of hope in their eye always present. They keep a twig sword on their left side held by an old elastic band with a bottle cap shield stuck to their left arm. They wear a helmet fashioned from an old plastic planter, they’re leafy hair sticks out of the planter’s drainage hole, resembling the panaches found on the helmets of medieval knights.

Personality: Beatrix has a heroic, stoic personality and is always ready to help another vegetable in need.

Governing Trait: Strategic Conflicting Trait: Impulsive

Breaking Point: Beatrix has lived their life watching the vegetables close to them get taken away, but after being transferred to the vegetable patch and watching the veggies get brutally harvested, they couldn’t take it.

Extroverted or Introverted: Extremely extroverted.

Strongest Dream: To see all vegetables living free and safe lives without fear of The Harvest and other danger.

Attitude toward people in power: Can see no good reason for the humans to cull the vegetables and therefore hates them.

Behavior toward strangers: Very friendly to any vegetables or fruits that hale from the same garden, but any unknown plants and all animals are watched with a wary eye.

Character Bio:

Beatrix Rood is a 12-week-old beetroot plant born in The Greenhouse sheltered from all danger. They enjoyed their time talking to and learning from other vegetables, they grew eager to reach maturity. Once they had matured enough, Beatrix was transplanted to the vegetable patch outside where there was more space. Here Beatrix witnessed a terrifying sight, vegetables all over the vegetable patch being brutally harvested, ripped from the ground, being cut form the stem. The sight of it made them sick. They had to escape before it was their turn, Beatrix mustered all the strength they could into their roots and for the first time ever, a vegetable ran. Beatrix decided that it was their duty to save the vegetables from the horrors of the outside world. They donned a helmet made from a planter and equipped themselves with a plastic bottle cap shield and twig sword. They would be the hero they all needed.

Story/Plot Involvement: Beatrix is the protagonist and main character who is involved in the main story line as well as all side missions.

Character Development: Beatrix was a naïve beetroot but after witnessing the horrors of The Harvest, they learn to be more observant and think critically about what a situation is and why it’s

happening. They always cowered in fear when danger approached like pests or disease and relied on the humans to save them, but after witnessing The Harvest Beatrix decided that they would have to be their own savior and now no longer would run in fear of danger but face it head on.

Seymour Onion Character Bio

The Onion Squire

Name: Seymour Onion

Title: Squire of the Beat Root Knight

Age: 9 Weeks

Race: White Lisbon Onion

Complexion: Pale White

Height: 3 cm (With hair tied up) 30cm (Hair let free)

Eyes: Black beady

Hair: Long, green, and tube-like hair

Personality and Demeanor: Seymour is a happy go lucky onion who tries their hardest to only see the
best in everyone they meet. Seymour can always be seen helping other vegetables, making friends,
and cracking a few jokes.

Appearance: Seymore wears a rubber band that holds a twig sword to their left much like Beatrix.
Seymore ties their hair up with a royal blue ribbon they found discarded on the floor to keep
themselves mobile and stop their hair from getting in the way.

Motto: “It’s hard to live life without a little bit of joy”

Bio:
Seymour Onion is an onion that was grown alongside Beatrix
to help each other grow and thrive via companion planting.
Seymour sees themselves as a younger sibling to Beatrix and holds them in extremely high regard to a fault.
Seymour appointed themselves as Beatrix’s squire and assists wherever they
can, whether it’s in combat or puzzle solving, they will always be of
assistance. After the battle in the shed the community of vegetables
began to fall sick to the mould and Seymour acted as first responder
tending to the sick. No matter how hard Seymour tried to cure their
friends and family nothing worked and would fall ill themselves.
Seymour called a distraught Beatrix and informed them of the
botanical garden they saw a poster of in the botanist laboratory and
requested Beatrix to take the healthy vegetables to the garden to
live their life safe. Before sending Beatrix off on their quest, they
would ask that Beatrix forget them and live their new life safe and
happy because it’s hard to live life without a little bit of joy.
Seymour’s future is in the hands of the Beetroot Knight who can
choose to find a cure to the mould and save Seymour and the rest
of the ill vegetables or choose to honour Seymour’s request ending
Seymour’s story.

CURING THE VEGETABLES CUTSCENE
EXT. VEGETABLE GARDEN
The camera shows a full shot of BEATRIX from the front.
Beatrix slowly trudges through the garden patch exhausted
after fighting the many GMOs at the Botanists Laboratory.
Beatrix has their helmet and shield with heavy battle damage
donned. Their hair acting as the helmet’s panache wilting.
They are holding a sack of white powder.
BEATRIX
(heavy breathing, under own breath)
Almost there… Can’t… Stop… Now… I’m coming Seymo- No everyone.
The camera pans to the left 180 degrees and tilts up to show
the abandoned shed with the rising sun in the background.
CUT TO
INT. ABANDONED SHED
The camera cuts between multiple close-ups of vegetables sick
with mould, they are duller colours than they should be and
have spots of fluff all over them. The camera finally cuts to
a medium shot of SEYMOUR struggling to clean other vegetables
while fighting their own sickness. The shed is filled with the
hazy mist found in the Cedar Forest. The sound of something
falling to the ground at the entrance of the shed catches
everyone’s attention. The camera quickly pans to the entrance
where Beatrix is on the ground.
SEYMOUR
(distressed)
Beatrix! (sputter)… What are you doing here?!(Wheeze)… You
gotta leave before you get…(cough)… sick!
BEATRIX
(in pain, exhausted)
Heh… Didn’t I tell you before? I’m no- I’m not letting any of
you die…
SEYMOUR
(angry)
And didn’t I tell you it’s too late for us?! (Cough cough)
BEATRIX
(exhausted)
Well maybe it’s not too late (deep breath) check this out.
Beatrix tosses the bag of white powder toward Seymour. Camera
cuts to Seymour catching the bag. As the bag lands in
Seymour’s hands a plume of the white powder escapes the bag.
The camera cuts to a close-up of a mould patch on Seymour. As
the white powder touches the fuzzy mould patch, the mould
hairs seem to curl up and get smaller.
SEYMOUR
What is this?
BEATRIX
(starting to cough)
Remember when you told me to go to the Botanist’s Laboratory?
(cough) Well, that bag of powder are the fruits of my labour.
SEYMOUR
(raising voice)
Botanist’s Lab? What are you talking about? I said to go to
the botanical garden! I said it was NEAR the Botanist’s Lab!
BEATRIX
(Smiling, voice lowering)
Looks like it’s already working. You’re not coughing anymore…
(Losing consciousness)
SEYMOUR
(Astonished)
Woah you’re right! Hey wait! Don’t go dying on me!
BEATRIX
(quietly)
I’ll be alright, cover everyone in this powder and make them
breath it… It’s an antifungal powder… The cure…
